The DZOFilm Arles Zooms Are Built for Fast Lens Changes Mid-Shoot

DZOFilm officially announced two new full-frame cine zooms, the Arles 25-75mm T2.6 and 65-180mm T2.6, built specifically to complement the existing Arles prime lineup. Together they cover a 25-180mm range, and DZOFilm designed them around a specific practical goal: switching between the two lenses fast, even with a matte box and lens motors already mounted.

Built for Speed on Set

Both zooms share consistent gear positions and similar physical sizing, so swapping from one to the other doesn't mean re-rigging your matte box or repositioning your follow-focus motors each time. That's a real, practical benefit for run-and-gun documentary work or any shoot where reconfiguring the rig between lens changes eats into limited shooting time.

Both lenses are also parfocal, holding focus through the zoom range rather than requiring a refocus every time you adjust focal length, and DZOFilm states that parfocal behavior holds even with the optional 1.4x extender attached.

The Optical Details

The 25-75mm uses 22 elements across 8 groups, including 7 ED and 5 HRI elements, with close focus at 0.51m from the sensor plane. The 65-180mm uses 20 elements across 8 groups, including 7 ED and 2 HRI elements, with close focus at 0.89m. Both cover full-frame sensors up to a 43.5mm image circle and use a custom low-saturation blue coating DZOFilm says minimizes flares and ghosting while giving a modern tonal character.

Mechanically, both lenses share a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gearing on focus, iris, and zoom rings, 270° of focus rotation, and a 16-blade iris for smooth, circular bokeh. Build is aluminum alloy.

Mount and Extender Options

Both lenses ship in PL mount, with a user-changeable EF mount kit available separately for $99. DZOFilm's Marlin 1.4x extender is also compatible, available in PL-to-E, PL-to-Z, PL-to-L, and PL-to-RF configurations, shifting the effective focal ranges to 35-105mm and 91-252mm respectively, at a maximum aperture of T3.6-3.7 with the extender attached.

Each lens is available to pre-order individually for $2,899, or as a two-lens set for $5,199, a real discount over buying them separately.
