edelkrone's New Roll Bracket Adds a Third Axis to Its Motion Control Ecosystem
edelkrone's new Roll Bracket adds a dedicated roll axis to its HeadPLUS V3, JibONE, and Slider systems — a cheaper path to 3-axis motion control. Available at launch price through June 30.
edelkrone just gave its modular motion control systems something they've been missing: a dedicated roll axis. The new Roll Bracket lets you mount a HeadONE onto existing edelkrone heads specifically to add slow, seamless roll movement alongside the pan and tilt these systems already handle.
How it actually works
The Roll Bracket attaches to the head, and once a HeadONE is mounted to it, the edelkrone app automatically recognizes the tilted HeadONE as a dedicated roll axis — no manual reconfiguration required. A built-in stainless steel counterweight helps keep the camera balanced and the lens centered through a roll move, rather than the setup drifting off-axis as it rotates.
It's compatible with HeadPLUS V3, JibONE (Chone X bundle), Slider (Chone S bundle), and Packshot Master, meaning current edelkrone owners can add genuine 3-axis capability to gear they already own rather than replacing an entire head to get roll motion.
One real limitation worth knowing before you buy
The Roll Axis can't be used at the same time as edelkrone's Focus/Zoom, Vision, or Laser modules. If your workflow depends on those modules running simultaneously with your motion control rig, that's a real constraint to plan around rather than something to discover mid-shoot.
Vertical mode, per edelkrone's own announcement
edelkrone's own video introducing the Roll Bracket also demonstrates a new "vertical mode" toggle in the app, letting you shift framing 90 degrees between horizontal and vertical while preserving your programmed motion and roll sequences — useful if you're producing for both traditional and vertical/social formats off the same rig without reprogramming a separate move for each.
Why this matters in context
Dedicated 3-axis motion control heads already exist from brands like Kessler and Rhino, but they typically require buying a purpose-built system outright. edelkrone's modular approach — bolt a relatively affordable bracket onto a head you already own — is a meaningfully cheaper path to the same creative capability, particularly for smaller crews and solo operators who've already invested in the edelkrone ecosystem.
Pricing and availability
The Roll Bracket is priced at $151, but that price is only guaranteed through June 30 — after that, it increases by 20%. If you're considering this, the window to get the launch price is closing fast.
