The process involves reading every scene, identifying coverage needs, categorizing shot types, and organizing everything into a format the crew can use on the day.
AI doesn't replace the director's creative vision in this process. It accelerates the mechanical parts of it, leaving more time for the decisions that actually require human judgment.
What AI Can Do With a Script
When you paste a scene or a full script into an LLM like Claude or ChatGPT and ask it to generate shot coverage, the model analyzes the action lines and dialogue to identify what needs to be seen for the scene to work.
It can suggest appropriate shot types for each narrative beat — establishing shots to orient the audience, medium shots for dialogue exchanges, close-ups for emotional moments, inserts for important objects or details.
