This On-Set Software Just Gave One Operator the Power of Two Departments
QTAKE Pro 2.5 adds native Stream Deck integration, a combined video assist and DIT dailies workflow, and frame-accurate TechnoDolly sync — all in one free update. Here's what changed and what it means for lean productions.
QTAKE Pro 2.5 is out now as a free update for all existing QTAKE Pro users, and the headline isn't any single feature — it's the cumulative effect of three changes that expand what one person can accomplish on a production day without additional crew or hardware.
Stream Deck integration: the one everyone was waiting for
Native Stream Deck support has been on QTAKE's roadmap for years and is one of the most-requested features the company has fielded. It's here in 2.5, and the implementation goes further than a basic button-mapping layer. The Stream Deck mirrors QTAKE's native titles, icons, and colors — so what you see on the controller matches exactly what's on screen — and optional dials enable step-by-step parameter adjustments. Custom actions can be mapped to almost any UI element, and automatic plug-in updates keep the controller in sync with whatever version of QTAKE Pro is running without manual configuration.
For a video assist operator managing a busy set, the practical difference between reaching for a keyboard and hitting a labeled Stream Deck button is real — especially mid-take.
Dailies workflow: video assist and DIT in one application

The bigger structural change in 2.5 is the new Dailies Workflow — an integrated toolset that combines video assist and DIT functions inside a single application. Live color grading, matching original camera and sound files to video assist recordings, automatic metadata merging, and dailies generation now happen alongside video assist work, with automated processes handling much of the background work without requiring a separate DIT workstation or operator.
For smaller productions and TVC shoots on tight budgets, this brings on-set dailies service within reach, even with a single video assist operator on set. That's a meaningful shift for lean productions where a dedicated DIT position isn't in the budget but the dailies requirement still exists.
The workflow supports RAW import from ARRI, Canon, RED, and Sony digital cinema cameras, automatic external audio sync, and dailies export directly to editorial or a post-production facility.
Sync Play: TechnoDolly integration without extra hardware
The third headline change is Sync Play — QTAKE playback that locks frame-precisely to TechnoDolly motion control movements for real-time live compositing. The previous approach required GPI triggers and additional hardware like the GPI Commander to achieve synchronization between QTAKE playback and a motion control rig. This software-driven integration eliminates extra hardware like the GPI Commander, delivering synchronization for more demanding multilayer shots.
The result is frame-accurate playback locked to the rig move — forwards, backwards, at any speed — without the additional equipment the same workflow previously required. Combined with QTAKE's multi-track timeline, multiple passes can be controlled, adjusted, and reviewed without processing delays or rendering overhead.
The bigger picture
Each of these three features solves a different problem, but they all point in the same direction: more capability per operator, fewer dependencies on additional hardware or crew. Stream Deck makes a solo operator faster. The Dailies Workflow absorbs what used to be a separate department's function. Sync Play removes a hardware requirement from complex VFX shots. On a production where the budget is under pressure, any one of those changes is useful. All three together meaningfully changes what a lean crew can accomplish.
