ByteDance Announces Seedance 2.5 4K, Its Most Capable Seedance Model Yet

ByteDance has announced Seedance 2.5 4K, a 4K version of its Seedance 2.5 video model. BytePlus, ByteDance’s enterprise technology arm, calls it the most capable model in the Seedance 2.5 generation, with more nuanced facial expressions and movement and richer visual detail.

It’s currently available only to selected enterprise customers, with API availability still to come.

What’s New in Seedance 2.5 4K

The headline upgrade is resolution. BytePlus says Seedance 2.5 4K renders textures, contours, and fine details more fully, producing a clearer overall image.

It also supports 10-bit color depth, which BytePlus says allows richer color gradations and smoother transitions. In BytePlus’s words, the result is “better suited to the big screen.”

BytePlus also says the model improves facial expressions and movement, a common weak spot for AI-generated performances.

Draft First, Then 4K

Seedance 2.5 4K includes a Draft mode for testing ideas at lower cost. Creators can preview storyboards and refine shots as 480p drafts, then generate the final version in 4K once they’re happy with the result.

That workflow matters at 4K, where each generation costs more and takes longer. Runway already offers a similar Draft mode for the standard Seedance 2.5, covered in How to Get Started With Seedance 2.5 on Dreamina, Runway, and fal.

Who Can Use It

For now, Seedance 2.5 4K is limited to selected enterprise customers. BytePlus hasn’t announced pricing or a date for API availability, and says updates are coming.

BytePlus debuted the model with a showcase video titled “Otter Is Nobody 2.”

Competitive Context

The announcement came the same day Kling 4.0 opened to API customers on fal. Kling 4.0’s 4K output and 10-bit HDR are still listed as coming soon, covered in Is Kling 4.0 the Seedance Killer?.

The standard Seedance 2.5, released in July, generates up to 30 seconds with audio and accepts up to 50 references. Other routes to 4K include upscaling, such as Black Forest Labs’ upgraded FLUX Video Upscaler, covered in Black Forest Labs Upgrades Its FLUX Video Upscaler, Taking Aim at Topaz.

The Signal in the Noise

Native 4K with 10-bit color is a meaningful step toward AI video that holds up on large screens and in professional color pipelines. The Draft-to-4K workflow is also a practical way to keep costs down while iterating.

For most creators, though, this is a preview for now. Until pricing and broader access arrive, the standard Seedance 2.5 and upscaling remain the practical options for 4K delivery.
