The Best ATEM Mini Pro Alternatives After Blackmagic’s Price Increase
The ATEM Mini Pro now costs $445 after Blackmagic’s price increase. Here are the best alternatives for streaming and podcasting, from a $329.99 Roland switcher to RØDECaster Video, YoloBox and free OBS.
The ATEM Mini Pro has been the default live-streaming switcher for podcasters, churches and small studios for years, largely because it was cheap. That’s changing. After Blackmagic Design raised prices on 36 products in late October, citing rising memory costs, the ATEM Mini Pro now lists at $445 on Blackmagic’s site and at Sweetwater.
That’s still reasonable for what it does, but the higher price makes the alternatives worth a fresh look. Here’s what the ATEM Mini Pro offers now, and the best options depending on what you actually need.
What the ATEM Mini Pro Gives You

For $445, the ATEM Mini Pro offers four HDMI inputs, a hardware streaming engine, recording to USB drives, a USB webcam output, an audio mixer, picture-in-picture, chroma keying and title stills. It’s compact, reliable and works with Blackmagic’s free ATEM Software Control.
The ATEM Mini Pro ISO, which adds separate recordings of every input plus a DaVinci Resolve project for re-editing, now costs $585. The larger ATEM Mini Extreme lists at $1,249, and the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO G2 at $3,479.
If you need four camera inputs and built-in streaming in a small box, the ATEM Mini Pro is still a strong pick. If you don’t need all of that, there are cheaper or better-fitting options.
Best Budget Hardware Switcher: Roland V-02HD MK II

The Roland V-02HD MK II is a compact two-input HDMI video switcher priced at $329.99 at Sweetwater. Roland’s switchers have a long track record in live events, and its physical fader and buttons suit hands-on switching.
The tradeoff is inputs. With only two HDMI sources, it fits a two-camera podcast or a camera-plus-computer setup, not a four-camera show.
Best for Podcasters: RØDECaster Video S and Video Core

RØDE’s RØDECaster Video line combines video switching with the company’s well-regarded audio processing, which makes it a natural fit for video podcasts.
The RØDECaster Video S ($799) includes three 1080p HDMI inputs, a USB-C port for webcams and RØDE USB audio gear, two XLR combo inputs with RØDE’s Revolution preamps, built-in receivers for RØDE Series IV wireless mics and five customizable scenes.
The RØDECaster Video Core ($599) offers the same three HDMI inputs and audio preamps in a smaller unit designed for full software control, with two USB-C ports. It integrates with the RØDECaster Pro II and RØDECaster Duo for studios that already use RØDE audio gear. The flagship RØDECaster Video costs $1,199.
These cost more than the ATEM Mini Pro, but they replace both a video switcher and a separate audio interface or mixer, which can make them the better value for podcast studios.
Best All-in-One: YoloBox Pro

The YoloLiv YoloBox Pro ($999) is a portable streaming studio with a built-in 8-inch touchscreen and battery. It switches between sources, adds graphics and streams directly without a computer or separate monitor.
It’s more expensive than the ATEM, but it fits mobile productions, events and solo operators who need to monitor and stream from one device on location.
Best Free Option: OBS Studio

If you already have a capable computer, OBS Studio is free, open-source software for switching sources, adding graphics and streaming or recording. You’ll need capture cards or USB cameras to bring video in, but there’s no switcher hardware to buy.
The tradeoff is reliability and hands-on control. A software setup depends on your computer’s performance, and you lose the physical buttons that make hardware switchers easy to operate live.
Competitive Context

Blackmagic’s price increases are part of a wider shift driven by memory costs, as manufacturers redirect chip production toward AI data centers. Sony, Fujifilm and Apple have all raised prices or warned about them this year, and Canon recently said it may raise prices in 2027 if memory costs stay high.
That means alternatives may see price changes too, so it’s worth checking current prices before buying.
The Signal in the Noise
At $445, the ATEM Mini Pro is still one of the most capable switchers for the money, especially if you need four inputs and built-in streaming. If you’re buying one, there’s little reason to wait, given where memory prices are heading.
If you only need two cameras, the Roland V-02HD MK II saves money. If your show is a podcast, a RØDECaster Video model may replace two pieces of gear. And if your budget is zero, OBS Studio and a decent computer go a long way.
